One more glass ball photo from a recent trip north… one danger they don’t tell you about ahead of time when using these is how well they work as magnifying lenses. For example, you don’t want to hold one in your hand on a sunny day.
Most of the time, in a shot like this that’s not doing anything super creative with the ball, I like to invert the shot vertically. I think it lets the background be more supporting to the foreground (in this case the scene within the ball) since with it being upside down the brain doesn’t register it quite as specifically as it otherwise would.
