On my way to the U.P. for the last trip before fall, I stopped at the Mackinac Bridge to stretch my legs and point the camera around. I decided to try using my short tripod (gets the camera less than a foot from the ground) and some longer exposure shots, to see how it would look with the larger waves. I was pretty happy with the results! I think the clouds balance the smoky look of the water in an interesting way.
