When I first got a camera, I looked down my nose at waterfall photos. It seemed like everyone was taking them, and for some reason it just didn’t make sense to me. I wasn’t interested. But they grew on me. I go back and forth between preferring the “spaghetti” look vs. capturing a high speed image of millions of tiny drops… but I did get over my initial disdain. I think what it took was for me to find some way of trying to shoot them that felt more my own. Initially that was the fast shutter shots, capturing the water in a more “high resolution” style than the smoother more standard way. It’s one more of the many things I miss about being in the U.P. full time… there’s so many water falls up there.
