Lake Michigan Mood

One of my favorite effects is something you get long before Photoshop touches the image. Depending on the light, you can hold the camera at different heights to create all kinds of perspective shifts. In this case, I found that by holding the camera near the ground it let some otherwise fairly small rocks look very imposing and large. But even better in my mind is the uncertainty of perspective. When I look at this photo, I find my brain bouncing back and forth between different interpretations. I feel like that leaves it more open to being appreciated by different people. I could be wrong. lol

This was taken while driving along the Lake Michigan shoreline on a trip up to Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I managed to be driving along at just the right time to catch the cloud bank clearing the sun.
