This photo was taken a while ago, though I hadn’t though about posting it here since it was more just something I’d taken for myself than for trying to create an image to be shared. However, this last year I’d wanted to try out a canvas printing service and ended up sending them this photo to print, and then recently shared a phone-taken image of that hanging on the wall to see what others thought. (When it’s your own kid in the photo, it’s harder to be objective.) In any case, people seemed to like it a lot, so I figured I’d share it here as well.
What you can’t see in the image is Lake Superior, which is on the other side of my son, belong the grass line. This was along the beach that’s across the highway from Scott Falls, near Munising. I liked the framing of the tree combined with the grass and the dead driftwood… and my son let me talk him into walking back and forth a few times while I played around with the shot… I can’t say he’s a patient and willing subject, but he is able to be bribed. lol
I really like this kind of grass in the right lighting… both the shape and the light/shadow make for an interesting pattern.
