Ishpeming is my home town. It’s also the home of the National Ski Hall of Fame. This statue is located right out front between the building and the highway. I’m not sure if the photo is set up in a way that it’s obvious it’s someone on skis, but I really liked the light and dark. Though, to be fair, this is one of the photos where I did some extensive doctoring – the sky is added in after the fact. 🙂 I typically try to limit editing to only things that support what I was actually seeing when I took the shot (for example, I don’t like to over-saturate the colors past what’s realistic) but skies have often been something I can’t fully leave alone. There’s not much you can do at the time you take the shot to change what’s in the sky, but Photoshop lets you be creative.
