While visiting the Grand Marais area in the U.P., I’d tried to get some shots around the “Log Slide” area (where they used to get cut trees to the boats.) I wasn’t very successful… it was a bit overcast, and I hadn’t been there before, so wasn’t sure what to try. I almost decided to go down to the bottom of the hill (there was a path there) but the thought of having to come back up prevented it that day.
One of the reasons I like this image is that it’s difficult to really get a good grip on the perspective. This hill is a lot bigger than the first impression.
