I had to chase this guy around a little bit, he was very skittish. If I hadn’t had a larger zoom, I don’t think I’d have caught any shots of him. Most ended up having branches between me and him. I often find myself with conflicting feelings when photographing wildlife… I want to get up close and capture great images of them, but I don’t like freaking them out. The best method is to slow down and take your time, becoming part of the habitat. I don’t do that nearly enough – my typical mode is more frenetic, I tend to move around a lot and shoot as much as I can.
I liked this one because the branches he’s near look like his legs and feet. He blends in pretty well.
