Take Me To Your Leader

A while back I did a “365 day challenge” to take at least one photo every day. It was probably the hardest thing in photography I’ve ever done. Not only do you run out of ideas, there are some days you just don’t feel like taking a damn photo. However, it’s really great for sparking creativity, and helping you learn to find new ways of viewing things. My favorite kind of photography is landscape and nature, but I do have a lot of fun with household items, especially toys.

In this case, I have a handful of aliens that were given to me years ago for Christmas by my parents. I wanted to experiment with both low light and colored light and so took a bunch of differently posed shots like this. A few years later I tried a different challenge where I focused on one toy figure and tried to do “story” shots each day. One of those days I re-used the alien in a shot I was pretty happy with – I’ve included that below as well (click the image to view it larger).
