Unstoppable Force Meets Immovable Object

I’ve long been fascinated by the waves of Lake Superior as they beat endlessly against the big lake’s rocky shores. While chasing the stormy weather north of Christmas on my way from Munising to Marquette recently, I was able to get some shots I really loved. There’s so much different color in a lot of the stone along Lake Superior, and waves and rain often bring it out even more.

When I first got to the end of the dirt road, it was minutes away from raining cats and dogs, so I’d hopped out with my telephoto to try to quickly get a few shots before waiting for a break in my car. This shot was one of those (which is why I didn’t quite get the exposure time where I’d otherwise have wanted it – this would have been great for a longer exposure, if I’d set up a tripod.)
