Water Meets the Sky

For a couple of years, every time I made the trip to Marquette with my camera, Lake Superior would play coy and be all calm. Meanwhile, I would always get to see other people catching big waves and posting them on Facebook. While it had calmed down a bit after my stop near Christmas on the way into town, I finally got the chance to catch some splashing on the shores around Presque Isle.

When I was growing up, they didn’t have the fence on the beginning of the breakwater, but people kept going out on it during rough weather and getting hurt or killed. The fence was the one part I thought about editing out… something about a fence that’s only a few feet long just seems weird to my eye. What I really liked about this photo, though, was how the splash seems to join the clouds. Maybe this is how the rain gets back up there? lol
